"CorporateThink/DoubleSpeak "In the 1960's my job was to ensure that Canadians did not fall asleep on their full stomachs." "Left, Pro-Life Feminists aren't on the same page as our politically Conservative counterparts. We're pro-union. The history of the union movement began in part as a human feminist act of both social & economic justice - to "collectively" stand up against & change traditional unregulated capitalism/the predatory nature of male chauvinism for rules based on human dignity rather than elitist patriarchy. Even more vulnerable than the male workers were the women & children - women pregnant & abandoned married or single reinforcing the sexual double standard of male entitlement, the inequalities in opportunity for education & career, women fighting for political equality; dealing with child labour/slave wages leaving a multitude of hurting & even destitute working class women, girls. Sounds familiar eh?" "To lean on the killer - the environmental polluters or gene therapy engineers as 'our saviour' is absurd. It's no less macabre than existing skeleton-like in a Nazi Concentration Camp, digging fellow prisoner's graves, thinking somehow you're safe from the whim of the powerful - because you're doing their dirty work." "Some of yesterday's preachers for an unregulated, borderless world now have turned 180 degrees. Prime Minister Stephen Harper & Finance Minister Jim Flaherty, who until recently promoted further deregulation of our financial sector by slamming "protectionists" & "socialists", now brag about Canada's independent banking & financial institutions. Separatists leaders, who said they didn't need the Canadian market any more, are alarmed @ Quebec's dependence on the U. S. economy that's in free-fall. Former advocates for adopting the U. S. dollar now laud Canada's financial system as the model for the world." "Biotechnology & GM crops are taking us down a dangerous rod, creating the classic conditions for hunger, poverty & even famine. Ownership & control concentrated in too few hands & a food supply based in too few varieties of crops planted widely are the worst option for food security." "Patriotism is not dying for one's country, it is living for one's country. And for humanity" "One popular human strategy for dealing with difficulty is autosuggestion: when something nasty pops up, you convince yourself it is not there, or you convince yourself it is pleasant rather than unpleasant. The Buddha's tactic is quite the reverse. Rather than hide it or disguise it, the Buddha's teaching urges you to examine it to death. Buddha advises you to not implant feelings that you don't really have or avoid feelings that you have. If you are miserable, you are miserable; that is the reality, that is what is happening, so confront that. Look it square in the eye without flinching. When you are having a bad time, examine that experience, observe it mindfully, study the phenomenon & learn its mechanics. The way out of a trap is to study the trap itself, learn how it is built. You do this by taking the thing apart piece by piece, The trap can't trap you if it has been taken to pieces. The result is freedom."
